Volunteer Opportunities: Bookstore
Thank you for your interest in volunteering in our bookstore! Without the dedicated help of community members we could not provide the high quality, low cost books that we do. Forget-Me-Not Books is staffed, primarily, with volunteers and we are very grateful for their time with us!
Adopt a Section
Volunteers select an available section in the store and are responsible for keeping it well stocked and nicely organized. Also back-shelving, alphabetizing and dusting are ways to help. Volunteers must be knowledgeable of genre they wish to adopt; this is a great job for a bibliophile!
How often? Once or twice a week.
Cashier/Customer Service
Cashiers wait on customers and assist them in finding books, restock and straighten shelves when it’s slow. Evening and Saturday volunteers will need to open/close, reconcile till, receive donations and occasionally answer questions about the Literacy Council.
How Often? Weekly or monthly for 2-4 hours.
Book Pricing
Book Pricers calculate prices of staff picks and label books and may also research prices for vintage and Alaskana books. Must be experienced in researching on the Internet, have good basic math and reasoning skills and be able to print neatly on a tiny label.
Book Locator
Book Locators search the store and sorting area for books that customers are requesting.
