19,800 Books and Counting! Many thanks to our wonderful Fairbanks community! You have collected and donated 19,800 books and counting to the Literacy Council of Alaska. These books are sent out into nearly 20 villages and 20 local agencies. Thank you all for changing lives through literacy!
The Literacy Council of Alaska (LCA) is a non-profit educational agency, which began in 1973.
The goal of the agency was, and continues to be, to promote literacy in the Fairbanks community.
In the fall of 2004 we moved to our new home at 517 Gaffney Road. This is also the location
of the new Forget-Me-Not Books, a used book store which helps fund our programs.
Thank You 2007 United Way Donors!!
LCA is a member agency of the United Way of the Tanana Valley, and an accredited affiliate of ProLiteracy America.
