The 25th Annual Biz Bee, Feb. 16th, 2017
Sponsored by the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner
The Biz Bee is our largest annual fundraiser. Businesses send employees or sponsor teams of three people to compete for the glory of the top Fairbanks spellers. Generous donations from the community and the Daily News Miner have raised over $470,000 over the past 24 years! The 25th Biz Bee will be held February 16th, 2017 at the Westmark Gold Room. We look forward to another great year of spelling! Please give our offices a call at 456-6212 for more information.
Teams or businesses can donate to the silent auction and help support the Literacy Council of Alaska.
Run for the Gold, July, 2017
"Run for the Gold" is a 1 mile run, walk, or race for literacy! This one-mile fun run is family friendly. We will be giving away real gold this year (2017) at the end of the race and before the Golden Days Parade starts. Have fun with your family leading off the Golden Days Parade and then stick around to watch the parade. All particpants receive five free books at Forget-Me-Not Books! The race starts each year at 9:50am and travels the parade route. You can run in front cheering spectators, have fun while exercising, and win great prizes! The idea began with Jim Brader, a former LCA Board member. This event is sponsored by Alyeska Pipeline Service Company and organized by the Running Club North.
Thank you to all of the businesses & organizations who contributed to this event and also to everyone who registered & participated in this race.
LCA Book Drive - Thank You Magic 101.1fm
This is an annual event that takes place in March. The book drive collects thousands of books each year that are placed back into the community through our Book Recycling Program. To find the location of the drop boxes, tune into 101.1 FM Clear Channel, Fairbanks, or contact LCA.
Thank you Fairbanks! Every year the community has donated over 20,000 books to help support Forget-Me-Not Books and the Literacy Council of Alaska!
The Great Cover-Up
This fund-raiser was created by UAF. Each spring, a "cover" concert is held at UAF with local bands playing the songs and imitating the style of a well-known band. All proceeds benefit LCA.
The Great Cover-Up is held at the UAF Pub.
