Volunteer Base

LCA’s programs rely almost entirely on volunteers. Each year, approximately 350 to 400 volunteers tutor either adults or children.

How can you help?
  • Become a volunteer tutor with the After-School Program and help a child improve his/her literacy skills.
  • Become a tutor with the Cross-Age Summer Program.
  • Create materials for the tutoring curriculum.
  • Donate children’s books to the Book Recycling Program, Lending Library and/or our Used Bookstore.
  • Become a volunteer office assistant and help staff prepare and organize materials.
  • Become a volunteer tutor with the Adult Program and help an adult improve their literacy skills.
  • Become a member of the Volunteer Board of Directors.
  • Become a volunteer assistant to the Board of Directors and help with special projects such as fundraising events and membership drives.
