34th Annual Biz Bee Raffle Rules and Procedures

 2026 BIZ BEE RAFFLE RULES
 
  • Tickets: 2,000 tickets will be available for sale at the Literacy Council of Alaska and the Daily News-Miner. Tickets will be based on a first-come, first-served basis. LCA Board Members and Staff are not responsible for lost tickets.
     

  • Eligibility: Raffle tickets may be purchased by individuals who are 18 years of age or older and physically located in the state of Alaska at the time of purchase. Employees of the Literacy Council of Alaska (LCA) and their direct relatives, members of the LCA Board of Directors and their direct relatives, and members of the LCA Staff and their direct relatives, are not eligible to purchase raffle tickets or receive prizes. Direct relatives are defined as spouse, parent, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, brother, sister, child, or stepchild. 
     

  • Prizes: A total of 3 prizes will be awarded. 

    • First prize (third drawing): Alaska Airlines round-trip tickets for two

    • Second prize (second drawing): Borealis Basecamp 2 - Night Adventure Package for two

    • Third prize (first drawing): $500
       

  • Raffle Procedures: The drawing to determine winners will be done at the 8 Star Event Center, 1485 30th Ave, Fairbanks, AK 99701, on Friday, April 17, 2026. Ticket purchasers need not be present to win. Three names will be drawn at random from a bucket containing all entries. Prizes will be awarded in reverse order, with the third prize awarded to the first ticket drawn, the second prize awarded to the second ticket drawn, and the first prize awarded to the third ticket drawn.
     

  • Notification: The Literacy Council of Alaska shall make every reasonable effort to notify winners that they have won a raffle prize. If attempts to notify a prize winner for pickup within 45 days of the drawing have not been successful, a new winner will be selected by random drawing from the original non-winning tickets.
     

  • Claiming Prizes: Winners will be required to fill out a W-9 and a prize claim form before receiving their prize. If a winner has failed to pick up or otherwise arrange for the delivery or use of the prize within 45 days from notification, the prize shall be awarded to a new winner by random drawing from the original non-winning tickets.
     

  • Taxes: The Literacy Council of Alaska must report to the IRS the name and taxpayer identification number of each winner of a prize, along with the value of the prize awarded. Winners are required to fill out a W-9 and are solely responsible for any taxes assessed because of receiving a prize. Refusal to provide a completed W-9 will result in the forfeiture of any of the three prizes.
     

  • Ticket Stubs: For all purchasers, you will receive an email with your ticket receipt.
     

  • Purchasing Ticket: You can purchase tickets in person at the Literacy Council of Alaska, 724 27th Ave, Suite 2, Fairbanks, AK 99701, or at the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, 200 N. Cushman St, Fairbanks, AK 99701, during business hours.
