Overview: The Adult Education Program Support Specialist 2 is a new position we are hoping to fill based on the evolving needs of our Adult Education Program. Within this program, we serve individuals 16 and older who need to learn English as a second language, prepare for their GED, learn digital literacy, or learn to read. The Adult Education Program Support Specialist 2 will support the program by completing administrative processes with excellent attention to detail, carrying out student communication, scheduling, workforce development workshops, and benchmark testing. They also assist the Adult Education Director with reporting, event planning, and other tasks. Once essential program elements are mastered, this role has the opportunity to help implement our new volunteer processes and assist with substitute instruction in AE classes. Our ideal candidate would be efficient, organized, and have a passion for assisting our Adult Education Students in meeting their goals.

Job Duties:
Administration
Collaborate with administrative team and take direction from the Adult Education
Director to complete program requirements and goals
Understand essential program elements and processes, and be prepared to
complete administrative tasks in the absence of other team members
Assist with intake, orientation, testing, enrollment, and attendance for afternoon
and evening students, including updating internal and State of Alaska databases
Communicate with current and prospective students. Document student
communications, and update the Adult Education Director and instructors
Analyze and/or report student data for program monitoring and improvement
Create program materials, forms, and flyers on Canva and distribute
Communicate with agency partners and current and prospective students about
upcoming events and registration opportunities
Assist Adult Education Director with planning and implementation of events such
as graduations, end of session celebrations, and orientations
Build, maintain, and fix complex data-tracking spreadsheets
Support the Adult Education Director with month- and quarter-end reporting
Anticipate program needs and maintain program supplies and resale inventory
Volunteer Support
Organize and lead Literacy Council volunteer workshops and training in
collaboration with the Adult Education Director
Coordinate volunteer schedules each session, provide materials, and send
volunteer surveys and communication
Review new volunteer applications and call references before submitting them for
approval to the Adult Education Director
Program Support
Provide workforce development workshops to LCA program participants
Familiarize with class materials and curriculum
Other duties as assigned
Job Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Two years of administrative experience
Ability to multitask and stay focused in a busy environment
Excellent time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail, especially when
dealing with large amounts of sensitive information
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable speaking in front of small to medium sized groups of people
Experience with computers, Google Suite, and database management
Experience creating polished designs in Canva
Excellent interpersonal skills, and strong desire to create a welcoming environment
Must be able to pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications:
Has worked or volunteered with LCA for 6+ months
1+ year of teaching experience
1+ year working with government databases
1+ year experience with grant reporting
Supervised by the Adult Education Director
Working hours: midday to early evening M-F
Starting Salary: $19 per/hr @ 30-35 hrs/wk
