An Update from our Executive Director

Hello friends of the Literacy Council,

It has been a crazy month at LCA since we got notice that our federal grant funding for adult education was impounded. Last week, we finally heard that it would be released! We have yet to hear what our funding amount will be. Thank you to everyone who spread the word about the impact it has had on us.

We wanted to clear up a couple of things to make sure people who need our services have the right information:

• We are not going anywhere! Our community has been wonderfully generous after hearing about our needs, and we have no doubt they will continue to be.

• Programs will be paused for two weeks in September to work on a few program structure changes. Rest assured- we plan to serve all of the same folks, but we want to update our service strategy in order to serve as many people as we can.

• The Literacy Council will be closed for a short summer break August 7-August 11th. We will be back in the office on Tuesday, August 12th. Forget-Me-Not Books will be open during their normal hours.

Thank you for your support. We look forward to continuing the legacy of many wonderful educators who came before us and providing critical literacy programs for those in need.
